Lotman & Lotman: Puking Rainbows Past and Future

Lotman & Lotman: Puking Rainbows Past and Future

This book is a collaboration with my young son, Tennbo. I gifted him a Fuji Instax camera and 20 cartridges when he was 5 years old for Christmas, 2020. Over the next three years the two of us took hundreds of photographs that I edited together into a book titled Puking Rainbows Past and Future. It includes 40 of his pictures and 40 of mine, made between 2020 and 2023 (between the ages of 5 and 8). There are photographs of our dog, trees, toys, temple facades, beaches, and not a few self-portraits made with double-exposure. In addition to the images are chapter breaks with my advice on being an adult and his child's observations about being alive, as well as his 5-year-old drawings of puking rainbows paired with an essay of mine about fatherhood, printed in English and Japanese.

Published by Neutral Colors in Tokyo, 2024, edition of 444.
